Q4 2020 Performance of Top Air Travel Apps on iOS in Australia

As the year 2020 wrapped up, the air travel industry continued to navigate the challenges presented by the global situation. Despite this, air travel apps on iOS in Australia saw varying levels of engagement and downloads. Data from Sensor Tower offers a glimpse into the performance of the top five air travel applications during the fourth quarter of 2020.

Qantas Airways saw a steady increase in downloads, starting from approximately 2.7K in the last week of September to over 4K by the end of December. Weekly active users also showed an upward trend, beginning at around 23K and rising to over 25K in the same period.

For Flightradar24 | Flight Tracker, revenue fluctuated throughout the quarter, peaking at nearly $4K in mid-November and ending the quarter with a similar figure. Downloads dipped initially from 2.2K to 1.7K in October but recovered to over 3K towards the year's end. Active users followed a similar pattern, decreasing initially but rebounding to over 14K.

Jetstar experienced growth in downloads, climbing from under 1K to nearly 3.5K in mid-December before slightly dropping to around 2.4K. Active user numbers saw an impressive increase, starting the quarter at approximately 2.2K and ending with nearly 4K active users.

The Virgin Australia entertainment app's downloads showed significant growth, with figures more than tripling from 1.2K to almost 4K by the end of December. Weekly active users reflected this growth, with an increase from around 14.5K to over 16K.

Lastly, the Virgin Australia app had a spike in downloads in early October, reaching over 2K, followed by a dip and a gradual increase to around 2.3K by the quarter's end. Active user counts also rose from 8.7K to over 9K during Q4.
